My research goal is to improve the\ndetection performance in these cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>What technology will be used in your\nproject?<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Chinese \u2013 English Dictionary API<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>What software and hardware will be needed\nfor your project?<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Python, PyTorch, matlab<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>How are you planning to implement?<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Build a pipeline that first enhance the\nquality of the image data using image processing techniques, then feeds data to\na deep neural network model (maybe CNN) to detect the Chinese characters and\nconnect to a dictionary API to translate the text into English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>How is your project different from others?\nWhat\u2019s new in your project?<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The current applications do not perform very\nwell on low quality images, so my goal is to find solutions to this limit of\nthe translation apps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>What\u2019s the difficulties of your project?\nWhat problems you might encounter during your project?<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I did some experiments and found that big\napps like Google Translate still had trouble detecting the not-very-neat\nhandwriting.
